Tools menu mail merge loss of arrow menu

S

Stephanie

I have Word 2000 and have had this problem before. I used
to have an arrow menu button next to the mail merge
listing in the tools menu, but it has disappeared and I
cannot get the mail merge menu toolbar to pop up in my
mail merge documents either. This means that I cannot
merge my Microsoft Works database file with my Word mail
merge document. I also have about 10 "mail merge"
listings in the tools drop down menu. Each listing brings
me to the exact same place--the mail merge helper, but it
doesn't help me at all because it won't let me merge with
a Works database.

The only way that this menu was restored in the past was
by reinstalling Word. I have already tried the Word
diagnose and fix installation and that didn't help either.

I use AutoCorrect and Macros extensively and do not want
to reinstall Word because I would lose these short cuts.
If someone knows a way to avoid losing the AutoCorrect and
the macros, please let me know. Thanks

Hi Stephanie,

It sounds as if your Word has been installed as part of the
Works Suite. And perhaps you need to start up WORKS, then
Word in order to get mail merge to work?

You should try asking in a Works newsgroup.
