tools menu repeats mail merge

The tools menu repeats the mail merge choice at least 10 times in Word 2003
(and previously in Word 2000). The number of repeats seems to increase every
time I open Word. I think it has something to do with the normal template
but I'm not sure. Any help out there? Thanks.
