Hello

I need to be able to write and check spelling/ grammar in Spanish.
I bought and installed Office 2008 Home & Student Edition including all the languages spellings. But the Tools Tab is not present at Tool Bar so I can't change the language. Neither in File Tab is any option for checking spelling.
I uninstalled Office 2008, then used AppCleaner, and Empty Securely the trash.
I installed again but no Tools Tab, no options.

Do I need any plug in or anything?

Thank you very much for your time
regards
Romeo

Hi Romeo:

I would say that's damaged preferences. Do this:

1) Track down all instances of pre-2008 Normal template on your computer,
and drag them to your desktop. The file is called simply "Normal" and has
no extension.

2) Find and drag the file Normal.dotm to your desktop. Unless you have
moved it, it should be in
/Users/~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office/User Templates/

3) If the following files exist, Remove or rename them:

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (10)

~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Word Settings (11)

4) User/Library/Preferences/com.Microsoft.Word.plist

5) User/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008 (the whole folder!)

6) Then Repair Permissions with Disk Utility.

7) Then re-install, or reapply the 12.2.0 and 12.2.1 updates, in that order.

8) Repair permissions again, and it should work.

Hope this helps

In answer to your second question: There is nothing in the File menu that
has anything to do with Spelling, Grammar or Language. All settings for
those will be in the Tools menu or Word> Preferences> Spelling & Grammar.
