total amounts acquired through formula's referencing other sheet

When I try to use =SUM ( : ), to get a total for amounts which were
calculated using formulas referencing amounts on another sheet, nothing
happens (I do not get a total).

Show us the actual formula you are using.

=SUM(Sheet2!A1:A10) works for me.
