Total Slack Calculation

Hello,

I'm trying to determine why the total slack of a task without any successors
or constraints is 0? I would think a task such as this, unless it was the
last task in the project would show slack equal to the amount of calendar
days to the end of the project. Is there an option that I'm missing here?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Mike,

Have you checked the option :
Tools / Options / Calculation / Calculate multiple critical paths

That was easy. That's it. Thank you.

The best way to handle that is first to put a start and finish milestone in
the project if you have not already done so. Then insure that all paths in
the project ultimately lead all the way from the start milestone to the
finish milestone. Every performance task must have at least one predecessor
and at least one successor. If no other tasks are the task's predecessor,
the start milestone is. If a task has no other tasks as a sucessor, the
finish milestone is. Now you will get the results you expect with a
performance task at the end of a chain having a slack equal to the
difference between its finish and the finish milestone's date.
