Totaling fields

Hello everyone. Is it possible for Access 2002 to total fields in a query
when it's written in design view. For example: If I pull data from 2 fields
(Customer name and payment amount) how can I have it total the payment
amount? Does this have to be done through a report or can I do it within the
query?

To turn it into a query where you get totals
-- SELECT View: Totals from the menu
-- Change GROUP BY to SUM under the Payment field
