Return the software for a refund as it's probably bogus.

I've had exactly the same issue, today, unresolved, with a legitimate copy
purchased via Microsoft Home Use Program. Without knowing who to return my
original copy to, how do I resolve this issue?

Is there a UK address for this help please, since when I go to the link,
a) It will only accept a USA address
b) It doesn't show as free, and wants c/card details to attempt to charge $49
Thanks for ur help

Is it worth UNINSTALLING the FREE 30d trial office (home and student) that
came with the brand new HP laptop, and THEN trying to install the CD again?
I've searched the CD and there IS 250MB of stuff on the ENTER sub directory
in the CAB folder?

Hi Rich,

On the page mentioned by Carey, below, click on the 'United States' ID on the upper left and change to 'United Kingdom'. On the new
page that comes up click on the 'Contact Microsoft' link.

Hi Bob
Tried that also, got the phone numbers and spent all day unsuccessfully
pressing different option numbers to get no-where within Microsoft. All I was
eventually offered was an e-mail address to send a technical question to, but
have since found out that this is a "general" e-mail address and so I have no
idea when someone will look at this issue !
Uninstalled the free demo software that came with the new laptop and it
still doesn't install. So, currently frustrated big-time with a product that
won't install, cost £17 and has cost more in phonecalls and my time so far !
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated
Richard

Did you have any luck?

My Home Use Program Office 2007 is giving me the same errors as you guys are
getting (and a lot of people are getting).

I'm having the same problem that seems to be widespread across Vista and XP
in many languages.

I'm trying to install Office 2007 Enterpise (home use program) on a fresh
install of Windows XP (SP3). I'm getting the same errors as everyone else...
can't find "proof.cab" and/or can't find "enterww.cab"... even though both
files are there.

I've tried remove/reinsert DVD, attempt install from hard drive... but no
good. I thought that since everyone seemed to be having problems with the
SAME cab files that it's not my particular DVD or hardware.

Although some Mac friends of mine say it's my OS.

Did you read the questions and answers in the link I provided the OP. Who knows if he is still employed and most probably NOT because they know they cannot go for help anywhere else

I for one will not help with the Enterprise Edition of Office because most probably I am contributing to a not valid version
The employee is told on sale by both the employer and MS that the below applies. I always reply to posts concerning the Enterprise version that they should get in touch with their IT person or Department

Q. What if an employee quits or is terminated?

A:The temporary license offered through the Home Use Program for Microsoft Office programs is valid as long as the employee is employed by your company and your company maintains its Software Assurance coverage with Microsoft. If an employee leaves the company or is terminated, he or she should discontinue use of the software because the license to use it ends when employment ends. Microsoft requires that Volume Licensing customers limit Home Use Program access to eligible employees and that they inform employees when they should discontinue use of the Home Use Program software""

Q. Whom should I contact if I have questions about the Home Use Program?
A: Your reseller will be able to assist you with most questions or concerns regarding the Home Use Program. Additional information is available on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Web site and on the MVLS support page.

Read again. You should have received a Phone number to call (included in your documentation) for Tech support at MS for the Enterprise Version purchased under the Home Program from you Company or Educational Institution or the Services

And how do we know that you are still employed and the installation of the Enterprise version is valid

Q. Does Microsoft provide any technical support to my employees under the Home Use Program?

A. Yes. Microsoft provides setup and installation support for software acquired under the Home Use Program. This support is similar to the support provided to customers who purchase Microsoft programs at a retail store and is provided to help reduce the burden on your internal help desk.

Notice the word "similar" (you need to give the correct info to the Service Desk when calling for service) That will include your employers info and the Volume License number that was given to you

And also how do we know that you are still employed and the installation of the Enterprise version is valid. That is why you need to call MS for Tech Support at the number that was supplied to you. If you lost it then ask your employer to give it to you again

Home Use Program users have as much right to use these forums as every other
Microsoft product license owner. Who are you to bully anyone and who are you
to question my employment?

J

JoAnn Paules

No. His question appeared as a new post for me. No links to anything.

(My company also offers a Home Use program. I'd rather spend a few extra
bucks for a full version at a discounted price than spend $15 and then not
have it when I'd need to to update my resume, etc.)

Thank you for your support, JoAnn. I knew I was right, and I didn't
appreciate Peter Foldes bullying me (and other users) on these forums.

I have since found my problem and fixed it... and am a happy HUP Office 2007
user! :)
