Trace Precedents Arrows Missing

I do support and got a ticket right before leaving work that when the user
presses the trace precedents button the arrows are not appearing. I wasn't
able to reach him but thought I would check here. My first thing to try is to
drag that button off the toolbar with the customize box open and replace it.
Does that sound good or is there another known fix?
