Track changes and multiple reviewers

Word 2004...

Can any one point me towards any online resource that could help with
splicing together edits made to the same doc by several different
editors. I am getting V confused, especially as
a. not all the edits have been made with tracjk changes on and
b. the steps indicated in word's help file do not produce the expected
results.

thanks

Any task is more complex when it involves 2 or more individuals who will not
comply with a protocol ;-) What you might want to consider is a modification
to the workflow.

Assuming that there is a primary copy of the document and that there is an
"Editor-in-Chief":

Provide each user with their own copy of the original. Once edited have them
Accept or Reject their respective changes, turn Track Changes OFF & send the
revised copy to the big cheese. That individual can then use the Merge &
Compare feature to generate a compiled version. Take a look at Merge &
Compare in Word Help & see if it sounds viable. [NOTE: Despite its mention
in the Help *do not* use Word's Versions feature - it is notoriously
responsible for corrupting docs.]

Other - perhaps better - suggestions are most likely forthcoming so don't
fail to check back.

Bob is correct: Use Compare and Merge to bring the changes into a single
new document.

Make sure that Word>Preferences>Security>Remove personal information from
this file on save is NOT enabled, or it will break your merge (if the user
names have been stripped from the documents, Word can't indicate who changed
what).

Cheers
