Track changes, can that be done?

I was just surprised by the design team today; they are asking us to provide something similar to the Microsoft Word Track Changes inside the XHTML text areas, is that possible?



I know that this area is simply well formatted HTML, and since InfoPath is inside IE or IE is inside InfoPath , I assume that this text area is just an editable DIV in Internet Explorer, it acts very similar to that.



So is it possible to have track changes on that text area? (the track changes that is implemented in the other Microsoft products, the end users are used to that feature)



Or any other ideas?

There's a blog entry that talks about your options. There's not really any
OM to get into elements or changes inside the Rich Text area, so limiting
change tracking to that section doesn't change much.

Thank you for the response, I have actually started implementing Track
Changes every ware except the rich text boxes, my idea is to load the 3
documents that I must compare to 2 data sources + the main data source, and
start conditional formatting + customizing the InfoPath taskpane + adding
more fields that can show or hide themselves automatically on the form.



Now for the rich text boxes I think I will use DIFF as a workaround, I will
look for a ready DLL on the internet that can give me a diff between 2 text
fields, and have the diff in a popup dialog box.



But please in the future have the Track Changes implemented in InfoPath, we
are porting a financial application from Lotus Notes to InfoPath /
SharePoint, and the client is used to the track changes in the lotus notes
application (which I actually don't know if they are custom or built-in
lotus itself).
