Hello everyone!

I am doing a rather large proofreading project using the "track changes" feature in Microsoft Word 2008 for Mac and I want to be sure the author will be able to view, accept, delete, etc the changes using Word for Windows (not sure which version) on her PC. Does anyone see potential problems? If so, I'd just as soon use a PC and not risk it. Thanks!

I've never had a single problem using Track Changes with Windows users.

You'll be fine! Windows Word is more likely to be able to read tracked
changes than Mac Word is.

Documents that have extensive editing performed with Track Changes turned on
have a high risk of corrupting so they will not open.

So I prefer to work with Tracked Changes turned OFF, then put all of the
changes in, in a single operation, after I have finished editing.

You do this using Compare Documents. It's a "one-click" operation,
performed after editing. Look it up in the Help. You need to keep a copy
of the unchanged original.

You will get almost no problems if you do it that way.

Cheers

Hi,

I recently co-authored an 840 page book using Track Changes extensively.
There were no cross-platform problems other than I was able to determine
that one of the Windows users switched the template on me. Mac Word
tattled and even showed me the location on the person's C drive where
the change occurred.
