track changes in spell check dialog box

I'm delighted with many of the new features in 2003. However, it seems that
in upgrading something was "broken" which previously worked just fine. When
spell checking a document in which track changes are on, the correction AND
that which was corrected (e.g., corectcorrect) appears in the dialog box. It
makes me crazy. It makes it very difficult to check the document. Also,
Word no longer allows changes/corrections to be made in the dialog box. I've
tried turning track changes off, view as final, etc. to no avail.

You're right - that is rather annoying and I can not find a way to
turn it off either. Why don't you repost this as a Suggestion for
Microsoft? I know I would agree to changing this behavior.

Although I am able to make corrections in the Spelling and Grammar
dialog box so I'm not sure what you are referring to on this point so
you may want to omit that in your Suggestion for now.

Thanks for your reply, Beth. The secondary problem with the spell/grammar
check dialog is that, while you can normally make changes in there, sometimes
I'll type in the change, and Word just ignores it. Using Detect and Repair
doesn't seem to "get it," so the last time it occurred, I had the Tech
Support guy uninstall/reinstall Word. It has solved the secondary problem,
but the issue of the track changes showing up in the dialog are maddening.
