Track changes: width of rev bar, adding text to rev bar

In Word 2002 and 2003:
Is it possible to change the width of the rev bar, to maybe 2 or 3 pt?
Is it possible to add some text (revision number of the document) to a
rev bar? My solution now is to create an additional text field or frame
for each rev bar, where I type in the revision number?

I'm not certain what you mean by the "rev bar"? Do you mean the extra
space Word adds to display the "balloons"? Or do you mean the black line
that appears in the margin?

I get the feeling you mean the latter. And the answer is no, there's no
way to affect how these are formatted, nor can one add text to them.
