track changes

B

Word 2000.
I received a document authored by A with tracked changes
in red made by B. I want my changes to be in another color
to stand out from B's changes BUT when I change the colors
through tools-track changes-options, the color of A's
changes already in the document change to the new color
also, defeating my purpose.

Fix?
thanks.

Hi Bob

When Word tracks changes, it remembers who made the change.

How you choose to display the changes is a separate issue. You can tell
Word to distinguish the authors by colour. Tools > Options > Track
Changes. In the colour boxes, choose the "By Author" colour. Word will
then allocate a different colour to each author. No, you can't choose
which colour it allocates to which author. And yes, it gets confused
sometimes. But 99% of the time it works well.

Hope this helps.
