Track Changes

I have a document and I'm using (Compatibility Mode), I'm using 2007, and my
friend who asked me to figure this out is using 2003.

The document is saved on my desktop. It somehow has a default of "Track
Changes" to ON. I have saved it, turned "Track Changes" off, saved again,
closed it, and when I re-open, it is tracking again?

Really...what gives?

Hi Judi,

Are you accepting or rejecting the changes already made? If not, then the Track Changes 'off/on' would probably be more accurately
labeled 'start/stop' as it doesn't remove any tracking done to that point.

That's the strange thing. There are NO changes to accept or reject. It just
perpetually turns Track Changes ON every time I reopen the document. I can
turn it off until I'm blue in the face, work in the document, re-save, close,
and when I re-open...it's on again!

Is it really turning Track Changes on or just displaying the Reviewing
toolbar? Try accepting all the changes and deleting all the comments.

It's really turning Track Changes on...it's the strangest thing! Done all
that. Any other ideas? Maybe it's just a glitch in '07?

Sadly...this isn't the cause of the problem either.

Another more or less simultaneous post suggests that Comments could cause
the problem as well, but I don't think that's the case; that *might* cause
the Reviewing toolbar to be displayed, but it shouldn't turn Track Changes
on. Since this is happening in a single document, I think I'd go to View |
Macros | Macros | View Macros (don't you love these new Ribbon paths?), set
"Macros in" to the current document, and see if there are any macros that
might be doing this.

Do you have a blog/Office Live workspace/website, etc where you could put this document and post a link to it here?
