Track Changes

I am trying to make changes and review my document that has had track changes done to it by my colleague on a PC. I am using a Mac and within two minutes of opening the track changed document I get the "spinning beach ball". I cannot do anything and need to force quit. This never happened when I was using a PC. I called the help desk and although she was very nice, there was no resolution to this problem. I am sure I am not the only one dealing with this frustrating issue. Please offer any suggestions that may help.
Thanks

Sounds like a corrupted file. Does this happen with other documents or
only this one?

You could try Select All, Pase into a new blank document. The Track
Changes *should* copy... and it *might* work.

Try this:

1) Open the document

2) IMMEDIATELY save the document as a new file name.

This will force a rebuild of the internal structure of the document. If you
get lucky, that will remove enough of the corruption to enable you to
continue working.

The other poster is correct, the document is corrupt. However, "pasting"
into a new document is a problem: while it MIGHT fix the document (probably
will...) it will ALSO remove all the tracked changes.

You can prevent it removing the tracked changes by turning Tracked Changes
ON in the new document before you paste. But if you do, you then probably
won't fix the document... Catch 22... :)

If the document is not fixed by steps 1 and 2 above, come back and tell me
what kind of document it is (what format is the file?). I need to know that
in order to debug this properly.

Cheers
