Tracking Changes between PC and Mac - Office XP (PC) and Office 2001 (Mac)

Recently received a doc from a Word XP/2002 PC user who
tracked his changes which appeared in the margin as
annotated bubbles which was emailed to a Word 2001 for Mac
user who cannot see the notes in the margin. If the file
is opened in another XP Word 2002 PC the tracked changes
are still there. Does anyone have insight to this ?
Incompatibile? Settings change? Any advice would be most
appreciated!TYIA!!

I'm not sure what annotated bubbles are.

If he was using the comments feature, I don't believe MacWord 2001 has the
option to show/print the comments in the margins. Try clicking on View |
Comments, or mouseover the comment reference.

IIRC, track changes in the margins is a relatively new feature (i.e.,
WinWord02). It did not make it into Word2001 (or Word v.X).

Your Mac user should still be able to see the changes using Tools/Track
Changes/Highlight changes on screen.

Displaying notes in the margin was a new feature with Word 2002 which is
coming to Word 2004 on the Mac.

In Word 2001, the comments appear inline with the text, prefixed by the
Author's initials. If the Word XP user has "Remove personally identifiable
information from this document" set in Tools>Options>Save, the user's
initials will be removed from the document on Save which will make the
comments difficult to see in earlier versions of Word.

In other words, the comment will remain, but the label will not.

Cheers
