When viewing/using one particular document that is located on a shared drive,
one user in the group using the shared drive has a different (and not
desirable) experience with the document that the rest do not have.
This document is designed to track changes. However, for all other users,
the changes are not seen unless the mark-up feature is turned on. For the
user with the problem, it shows the edits when the document is opened (even
though the mark-up toolbar is not turned on). The mark-up feature has to be
manually turned off to make the edits disappear from view. But, everytime
the document is opened again by this user, the edits appear again and it has
to be turned off manually again.
Second problem - when portions of the documents are copied and then pasted
into a new document, the tracking is copied into the new document. This is
not desirable and does not happen for other users of the document.
One thing we have noticed is that the user has an icon on the main
formatting toolbar that is titled "dblsave" that appears to be a macro that
the rest of the group is not seeing when the document is used. Could this be
part of the problem?
Any ideas about what is going on? The document in question is a master
document from which portions are copied into other documents, so it is
important that it works correctly for all users.
Thank you.
