Tracking email conversations

Hi all,

After a while of using Outlook, I've noticed two things that I could
see improvements for. First, when you flag an outbound message for
follow-up, it doesn't set a reminder for you (because Outlook's time
sentry doesn't check "Sent Items") but stupidly, it shows up on the
receipients' PC (assuming they are using Outlook). I know MS has a KB
article that outright says this is correct behavior, but I can't think
of anything more frustrating than wanting to follow up on an email you
sent to make sure the item you're asking about has been done.

As an IT consultant/manager, it's my duty to email many people asking
them to check something, peform a task, etc.. There are enough people
that I cannot remember every person I asked something of. What I'm
looking for is a way to monitor outbound mail for replies.

To this end, I've come up with a half-baked answer that only works on
one contact at a time. In Outlook 2003, double-click a contact, choose
the "Activities" tab, then show "E-mail". Group by Conversation, and
any "converstation" that has only 1 entry is pretty much a single sided
conversation with no replies.

This works fine, with three major flaws:

1. It only works on one contact at a time
2. It only works by subject, so non-unique subjects show up even if
it's from years ago
3. Even sorting by sent time, I have to scroll through 2-3 pages
(remember, this is per contact) to check for replies

Anyone else have this frustration? It's a simple request, really:

What can I do to see every email I've sent that hasn't received a
reply?

Thanks,
Dave
