I am trying to figure out if there is an advantage to tracking expenses in
Project Server. Our project has full-time, dedicated staff (who are not
eligible for OT), the consultants are being paid based on milestones, and all
other expenses are monthly overhead (i.e. rent, phone bills, etc).
Since all expenses are fixed, the cost of the project will not change based
on effort, i.e. if we work more hours or add more resources to a task it
doesn't make the cost go up. However, if there is schedule creep the cost
could increase based on the increased duration, i.e. we'll have to cover the
overhead for the extra time the project takes to finish. That said, does it
make sense to track expenses using Project Server? I'm already tracking our
costs by month so am not sure how Project Server can add value...
Thanks,
Rachel
