Tracking Material Costs with Remaining Cost

I have entered in Material Resources using type=Material, and assigning to a
task, entering Units and cost is calculated based on Stand. rate x units.
This works great.

I want to track how much is remaining on all my material. Some has been
invoiced, so I tried to enter this into Actual cost field to get Remaining
cost to calculate. But Actual cost is locked. How do I get remaining costs
to show how much is really remaining?

Hi

To input Actual cost data yourself go to Tools > Options > Calculation and
check out the option of 'Actual costs are always calculated by Microsoft
Office Project'.

After data of 'Actual cost' of resources in relevant tasks has been input,
go to 'Resource Usage' view and insert the columns of 'Remaining cost' and
'Cost'. So for each resource assignment for individual tasks as well as
cumulatively for that resource you can see these two data.
