tracking problem on project plan update

Hi, Al

I meet a tracking problem when I update Project plan. for example,

have one task will last five days in original pla

day 1 2 hou
day 2 2 hou
day 3 2 hou
day 4 2 hou
day 5 2 hou
when I update 1 hour as actual hours in day 1 ( actually I just spent

hour on this task in day 1), so the status will be occured as follo

day 1 1 hou
day 2 2 hou
day 3 2 hou
day 4 2 hou
day 5 2 hou
day 6 1 hou
and the extra 1 hour in day 6 will cause the resoure overallocation an

task delay. and I have to spend lot of time to adjust the future plan onc
again when I update the current actual hours

is there have any way to keep the future plan doesn't change when I updat

the current actual hour?? it will rescue lot of time for adjust project pla
once again, thanks a lot

Put the task to 100% complete before entering actual work

Hi

If you are inputting Actual Work prior to the task's end-date, then it's far easier to have the task as a Fixed Duration task type. This way, the original task duration is retained, regardless of how many hours you actually worked on the previous days. Any under-booking of hours will automatically be re-scheduled across the remaining duration of the task
