I use Outlook 2003 Standard Edition. I wish to be able to create a task and
assign it to a person, but be informed of their progress. For example: I wish
to assign a task to the secretary to look up that one document on the server,
and reformat it to my liking. I want to send the task to her, but when she
clicks "Task Complete," I would like it to send me an email, which would then
automatically update my tasks, so that it shows that she has completed it, on
my task list. This is possible and I have found how to do it using a built in
feature.
Here is where my problem begins. I need to assign it to her, but also have
my colleagues updated as to the status of the task. As far as I can tell, I
have to assign the task to the secretary as well as my colleagues. This makes
no sense though. I can't seem to find any sort of "carbon copy" option in the
"New Task Request" dialog.
Is there any way to make it so that I can 1) assign it to only the
secretary, 2) have it alert my colleagues of the task being assigned, 3) when
the secretary completes the task, have it update both me and my colleagues?
It seems that if there was some way to cc my colleagues, this matter could
easily be resolved. Is this possible?
