I am designing a college online class for Office 2008 and was wondering if
there were pre-made files that could legally / ethically be used. I am
using a book that has some files, but am not real happy with them. For now
I am just making my own, but if there are ones I can use / modify to my
tastes that would be better.

Have you tried the sample files that can be downloaded from Mactopia? They
are part of a series of online courses, and I don't think that there should
be any problems using these files, provided that you do not use them for
commercial purposes.

I will look there... thanks.

Hi,

Office comes with movies and on-line courses in the Help system. You are
free to use those resources. All of the videos in the Help system are
also in iTunes. You can distribute links to them as desired.

If you need a text book of sorts, you could try the bew book Microsoft
Office 2008 all-in-one desk reference for dummies (by your's truly &
Geetesh Bajaj). It won't be in bookstores until Sept 22, however.
Instructors can order an evaluation copy from this URL:

I know of the videos, but am looking to have data files. Thanks though
anyway. I have watched some of the videos to get ideas - I make my own
screencast videos so I can be very specific with my expectations (though I
also point students to other resources).

I have another text... though it is just the best of the ones I found and
nothing all that exciting. I did talk to folks at Wiley and they did not
suggest your book - the bums. I will call them back. Classes start on Aug
24, so I am afraid for this semester your book will not even be in the
running. Believe me, though, if I could find a good book for the topic I
would be happy.

I have just switched over to the Dummy's book for my Dreamweaver class and,
while I have not yet used it, it seems like it will work real well. I won't
know for sure until I actually use it in a class. :)
