Training site installation

Several of my colleagues want to get Publisher 2003 and have asked me to
provide some training. We have a computer lab that we can use for training,
and its computers are connected to the Internet. If they install their copies
of Publisher on the lab computers, will they then only have one installation
left for their desktop computers but not their laptops? I ask because when
our IT folks scrubbed my computer to upgrade from Windows 2000 to XP, I had
to call Microsoft to get permission to reinstall my copy. (My alternative
strategy for training is to use my laptop and a projector in our conference
room.) Thanks for any help or insight you can offer.

Hello Joe-
I'm not a lawyer, nor do I pretend to be any type of authority on MS
licensing, so this is strictly my opinion. Keeping in mind that the primary
objective is to prevent piracy/unauthorized use of the software, your
intended purpose as stated seems perfectly legitimate. The restriction you
ran into before with Windows is a little different as the apps allow you to
run them 50 times without 'activating' them. If the program is installed on
the training systems but not activated & then uninstalled after the training,
it doesn't seem that there would be any violation of the license agreement...
especially if the training is exclusively for the benefit of legit licensees.

The installation on 1 dt & 1 lt would still be subject to activation in
order to run more than the allowed 50 sessions. Make sense?
