Training speech recognition

I seem to have installed speech recognition within Office, and the language
bar is working, but when I go to begin using speech recognition and click the
Next button to train speech recognition, nothing happens. Also, if I choose
Tools > Training from the language bar, nothing happens.

So, I can't get the computer to recognize my speech, but I know that the
microphone is working, because I use it with other programs successfully.
Any ideas?
