Transfer data from Excel to Access form

D

Dr. Oliver Kharraz

Hello,

I am trying to find a way to transfer data from an excel sheet to an access
form - the form has many individual data entry fields and cannot be
modified. My idea is to somehow get control of the access application and
simulate the keystrokes - is this realistic? Or is there maybe a better way
to do this?

Any help is appreciated,

Oliver

Hi Oliver

As I've just arrived in this forum to try to get help on
my "impossible" problem I note that you aren't having much
luck with your problem! I think you may be asking the
wrong question!! Forgive me if I am totally on the wrong
track but please consider the following:

The basis of Access is its tables. A form is only a means
of getting data into a table. A second function of a form
(albeit in a more advanced application) is to manipulate
the underlying data in the table (e.g. you could have a
text box that showed the value of a piece of data
multiplied by 2. This text box would NOT be duplicated in
a table).

Thus, is not your question "how can I transfer data from
Excel to an Access TABLE"? Once the data is in a table,
you can then use a form to show and manipulate it.

This new question is then easy to answer. You need to get
your Excel data "looking like" an Access table and then
you can use the import data wizard.

Hope this helps

Larry
