Transfer Date from Access- Excel

I have a huge data base in Access, and need to transfer to an Exce
pivot table.
Dates have been formatted in Access as Dates, DDMMYYY, resettin
to Text, the date remains in the same order DDMMYY, but any subsequen
sorting results in the database being sorted in numerical order whe
transferred to Excel.
Is there any way of adjusting access so that dates remain as date
when transferred between both programmes.
