Transfer OE files from old PC to Outlook 2002 on new PC?

I'm trying to set up my wife on my old PC (WinXP Pro) running Outlook 2002.
She was using OE on a Win98 machine. I've managed the Contacts transfer OK.
But am stumped on the mail messages. Tried to backup from OE and put a
folder of the dbx, etc. on the new Desktop, but Outlook 2002 wouldn't Import.

Any advice?

Import it into the local copy of OE first and then export from there to OL.

I don't have have a local copy, and I was worried that reinstalling IE to
include OE would cause some new problems. No?

Sorry, I found that I did have OE installed, and the import ran fine. Now
the wife has the option of staying there or moving on to Outlook.

All new PCs include Outlook Express, which is part of Internet Explorer.
No, it won't cause problems.
