I am a snowbird. Florida Keys in winter, Princeton NJ in
summer. Have HP PC in FLA Win 97SE running MS Office 97.
Before I left FLA this spring decided to buy new HP
Computer with WIN XP and have new computer shipped
directly to NJ. I brought my original Office 97 cd with
product code and key information.
When I try to load on new computer Win XP get message
that my program is an update and my new computer has no
earlier product to update.
Obviously my old computer did have such a program.
PROBLEM = I and my new computer and a mew laptop are in
NJ. My old computer with other required program is in FL
and unaccessable to me until early Dec 2003.
QUESTION = How can I load office 97 onto replacement
computer?
Message also says must have prior program as listed on
Office 97 Box. I don't have the box, it was trashed after
installation.
I cannot find how to get an answer from Microsoft without
spending $35 and then not being sure their answer will
helpme. My intention is to replace the WIN97SE computer
with WIN XP and donate the old one to my grandchildren
for learning tools and games.
Any suggestions??
