Please help - trying to move a 2001 Office (Word) custom toolbar from one
computer to another so I don't have to re-create it - what a pain to get
every little icon in just the right place.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Marge

Toolbars are stored in templates, probably in your Normal template if you
didn't move them. Go into Apps:Office: Templates and copy the Normal file to
your new computer. Rename it (e.g. OldNormal) on the new computer, then open
it up in Word, go to Tools | Organizer, and copy the toolbars into the new
Normal.

And note that AutoCorrect settings are stored in the ACL file in the prefs
folder.

Hi Jack:

Yes, if you have remembered to create your own toolbars first. Otherwise,
it's a problem. If you have mistakenly customised the built-in toolbars
instead of creating your own, you can transfer the Normal template to the
next computer. That will overwrite the Normal template on the destination
computer, so you loose any customisations you may have there. (But see
below...)

To avoid document corruption, Word will not allow you to copy the standard
built-in toolbars anywhere.

To handle this, create new toolbars with your own names. These can be
copied anywhere you like (including into documents) by using the Organiser,
a tool you will find on the Format>Style dialog.

If you end up with two customised Normal templates, re-name one of them.
Then copy the other beside it into the same folder. Now you can use
Organiser to copy most items from one template to the other. For more
information, look for the help topic " Copy styles, AutoText entries,
toolbars, or macros"

Cheers

WOW - you all are awesome! Thanks for the assistance - your
instructions worked the very first time I tried. What a relief.
Best to all for a pleasant weekend.
