Transferred to new computer, not working

I purchased a new computer and transferred the existing files plus the
program to the new computer. Now its not working! It won't open any new
pages, but unsuccessfully tries to open the old ones. It won't let me change
anything either. I tried renaming the old files so it wouldn't contineu to
try and access them but that didn't work. I also uninstalled and
reinstalled, but that didn't work either. My new quarter is starting and I
really want to be able to use this. HELP!

Is this a trial version? Or full copy?

Have you tried to activate it?

This is a full registered version and yes I activated it. The only files I
directly transferred were the old notes from my previous installation. I
installed and registered from the full version cd.

I don't recall seeing this problem before.

Have you updated to SP1?

Have you tried a Repair from the Help menu?

If neither of those work, can you give more details about your setup?

Thanks

I have updated to SP3, and I've tried repair from the help menu. The fact
that I transferred the old files seems to me to have been the problem. The
program wants to link to them, but for some reason can't, so it won't respond
to any new commands, setting up new files, etc. You would think renaming the
old files would have worked---I was thinking it wouldn't try to find them
anymore...and uninstalling and with a complete reinstall would have, but no
it hasn't.

My OS is XP Home edition, I do have Pro available. Just a note, I developed
problems with Office XP professional and have uninstalled that as well. I've
also had trouble with IE shutting down or suddenly not responding. I have
512 ram and a 40 Gig hard drive. While I've had trouble with IE from the
time I bought the computer, I only started having problems with Office after
I installed the latest security updates. That probably has nothing to do
with the installation issue with One Note, but I'm including this info as
background.
