transferring an excel file onto powerpoint 2008 on a mac

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I am a student putting together a group presentation. My fellow student has sent through data on excel (from a macbook bought last year). I am trying to put it into a 2008 powerpoint presentation but with no luck! If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.

How do you want the data to look in
your PowerPoint presentation, and what
do you want to do with it? That should be
the first question to ask.

I've had no troubles copying an ordinary
spreadsheet from Excel 2008 and pasting it
onto a blank slide in PowerPoint 2008.
It does get converted into a PowerPoint table,
but it seems to look fine.

What kind of problems are you having, exactly?
