transferring from one hard drive to another

I cannot find my Office '97 CD, so I can't install Office
to my computer again. My hard drive was too small, I
bought a new one, slaved the old one to it, and
transferred the data to the new one. Now, I can't get
Excel to start, error message says to run Setup, can't do
that without my CD. I am the licensed owner of this
product, it is not copied from somebody else. Is there
any way Microsoft could re-issue a Setup CD for this
program?

Did you transfer the data or the program to the new HD or the entire drive?

Unless you have the documentation (lic key) for 97 I doubt MS will do
anything ---- plus I doubt they would do anything anyhow since I dont think they
are even supporting 97 anymore.

Try Ebay to see if you can find a cheap copy there

Lady Layla;

You must be an Eric Clapton fan, from your username, cool.

I transferred the entire Office program. There was a
missing .dll file, which I also copied to System, so the
program will fire up now, but I can't get any upgrardes to
work, like going from SR-1 to SR-2. Because I don't have
the CD, or it's case (darned if I know where it is, I
cleaned out my computer room to redocrate, should have
found it, didn't), I don't have the key. I do have my
Product ID No., but no key. Thanks for the suggestion
about eBay, if I can find one there, cheap enough, it
might be worth the trouble.

Am a huge Clapton fan thanks

Unfortunately when OFfice installs there are many additions to the Windows
directory as well as the registry so moving just the problem leaves bits and
pieces missing
