Transferring Office 2003

MAC MAN

I just bought a new mini computer for travelling however it does not have an
internal CD drive and I want to transfer my Office 2003 on it.

I have all my installation media CD's.

I don't want to purchase an external drive at $80 to $100 just for this one
step so can I transfer this to a flash key and install it in my computer.

Thanks

Create an image from the disk and transfer it to a thumb drive.

Don't know what Michael meant by "creating an image" but you can just copy
all the files and folders onto a flash drive and install from there using
the setup.exe file in the root of the drive if you do a drag and drop copy
from the CD to the flash drive in Windows Explorer.

There's your way too, but I've found copying and pasting all files like that
can sometimes cause corruption. That's why I use a program called ImgBurn
to create an .iso image of the disk. You can copy that to a thumb drive,
then use a program like Daemon Tools Lite to mount the image. You're
talking more steps, but this way lessens the chance of a file being
corrupted.

Actually I have always installed from a drag and drop copy that I have made
to either a flash or external hard drive. Never experienced corruption and
should it fail to install still have the disk I can recopy. The only thing
I ever install directly from the CD or DVD is the OS on a new computer.

And how does the Vendor enable you to return the machine to factory gate
specs? You may find that you need an external DVD unit anyway, to do that.

You should be able to transfer the files from your Office CD to a flash drive
and install it from there. I think it will require an internet connection to
connect to Microsoft to validate the install and that may depend on how many
installs your Office license allows.
