Transferring Office 2007 to new laptop

I actitaved a trial version of office standard 07 on a new laptop (eee pc).
Last week I dropped the laptop and smashed the screen. It wasn't cost
effective to replace the screen so I've bought a new laptop.

How do I transfer Office to the new laptop? I don't have the cd as I
downloaded from ms.com. Neither of the laptop's (old or new) by dvd drives.

Thanks for any help

If you got the same model laptop I would suggest swapping hard drives. Then
you would be back to where you were, just before you dropped the old laptop.
This may work even if they are different models.

If by "activated" you mean "purchased" you should have a Product Key that
you can use to activate Office on the new laptop. Unless you made a hard
copy of the electronic receipt, mail message or purchase acknowledgement
this is going to be difficult to track down. You can maybe start up the old
laptop plugged into an external monitor and view information on it that way.
You may also have the purchase recorded in Digital Locker, a Microsoft
service for recording such things.

Now if you just started a sixty day trial version, and it is not paid for
yet, then get another one from the web site.

Earle,

Thanks for your help. I got a different laptop so the swapping of drives is
out. I have the product key for the version of office that I purchased and
tried to use that to activiate the trial version that came on the new laptop
but it wouldn't accept.

Do I need to unistall from the old laptop? Is it limited to a one-time use?

Thanks again

Did your copy of Office come pre-installed on the first laptop? If so then
it's highly probable that it's an OEM version, and as such, cannot be
transferred to another machine...

No - signed up for the 60 day trial and then purchased it also via the MS
website.

Could it really be a single use license? If it can be uninstalled from the
old laptop would that free up the license so I can use the product key again?
I only bought this a few weeks ago so it seems crazy that I paid $400 for
soiftware that I can't use.....

So you downloaded one or more files to install it? Copy those to the new
machine and go through the install procedure again. You may have to use
telephone activation.

Sorry, just to be clear. On the old laptop I went to ms.com and download
Office 2007 for the 60 day trial. After the trial expired I went back to
ms.com and purchased it. They emailed me an product key (which I still have)
which I used on the old laptop.

I dropped the latop and smashed the screen. I bought a new (different)
laptop which has a link to ms.com for the same 60 day trial for Office 2007.
I downloaded the trial and entered the same product key but it says it's not
correct. So, I'm using the trial version but when it expires I really don't
want to have to buy the software again for about $400.

I don't have any CD's as it was all downloads (my netbook doesn't have a CD
drive anyway.

What would be the files I need to try and transfer? Do you have a number for
telephone acitivation. When the existing product key failed it was grayed out
and didn't give me a number.
