Hi.. ...bought a used P4 2.53 Ghz machine that is running XP pro and Outlook
2003. I need to transfer data and settings to the new machine. I want to
have all my old email messages, my contacts (I'm not sure if this is the same
as the address book or not) and the rules for putting email into certain
folders. I've created folders for both my contacts and for the email, so I
wouldn't want to have to recreate them.
My old machine is running Win 98 SE and uses Outlook 2000.
Depending on the size, I'll either burn a cd or put them on a floppy to
transfer to the new machine.
I've heard that the export/import function doesn't work very well.
I haven't set up Outlook on the new machine yet. I'm using web based email
until I get this fixed. Then I'll get the messages that I haven't deleted
from the email server.
What is the best way to accomplish my task? I want to keep everything intact
and just want to put the information seemlessly on the new machine. Please
give as much detail as possible or poerhaps a link that clearly details the
procedure.
I appreciate your assistance.
