My wife was running Outlook Express on a Win 95 machine. Aside from
the usual mail folders -- Inbox, Outbox, Sent, Deleted -- she had a
number of other mail folders in which she stored messages. She just
got a WinXP machine, which has Outlook Express version 6 on it. I
want to transfer all of the Outlook Express messages from her old
computer to her new one.
The help screens for both versions of Outlook Express indicate that
the folder material is stored in files with a .dbx suffix. I located
and copied all of the .dbx files on the old machine, but I can’t find
files with that extension on the new machine, so I don’t know where I
should paste the old .dbx files. Even if I did find them, I don’t
know whether I could open the old .dbx files on the new machine the
way you can open old .pst files in Outlook or do something else to
transfer the messages.
Can anybody help me?
