Transferring Word documents

I often transfer document from my iMAC (running Word for MAC 2004) to
my Laptop (running Office Word 2003) using a memory stick.
Recently files transferred onto the stick have not opened on the
laptop, and the Microsoft file logo on the memory stick appears faded
when viewing the directory contents. The files are there, but in a
sort of ghostly form? Older Word files originally from the Laptop all
appear and open normally. Help required please. Thank You.

You should not open the documents from the memory stick. Can you open them
if you move them to the hard drive?

Hope this helps.

Hi - thanks for your reply
The documents do not open when transferred to the Laptop, its as
though the application does not recognize the file.
Thx Mark

If a file has the Hidden attribute set, the logo will appear shaded. That
does not however prevent me from opening such a file. However check
whether that is the case with your files by right clicking on the file in
Windows Explorer and then select Properties from the short cut menu that
appears.
