Transition Audio from Slide to Slide

Using PowerPoint 2003
I am putting together a PowerPoint presentation for a friend’s birthday
party. The presentation will run continuously throughout the night. I want to
add audio to a few slides. Let’s say that I want the same song to play on 3
different slides. I’m guessing that when the next slide advances, the music
from the previous slide will stop and I’ll have to add that same audio file
to the next slide. What’s the smoothest way for the music to transition from
one slide to the next.

Will this work for PowerPoint 2003? That’s the version I have.

I just tried it with 2003 – It works great! Thank you sooooo much. The steps
are a bit different, but the end result is the same.
