Transitions don't work

I am using PPT 2003 and XP Professional. I have a lengthy presentation with
several hyperlinks to sections of the presentation such that the viewer can
go back to review sections of the presentation. I know that linking directly
to a slide containing animations circumvents the animations on that slide, so
I have a "blank" slide that I hyperlink to with the transitions set to 0, 1,
or 2 seconds preceding the "real" slide. My problem is: the second time in
the presentatiuon that I use the hyperlink, the transition on the "blank"
slide doesn't work. The transition operates only the first time that it's
used in the presentation. If I close the presentation and then re-open it, it
works, but only for one time.
Any ideas?

I don't know how to solve this-- but I will share how I got around this on
many occasions. I separate my "sub-information sections" into separate
presentations and set my hotlink to jump to the external file. I like it
because after viewing my "sub-section", they return directly to the slide
they left and they don't know they ever left the original file. This also
allows me to build in modules and keep my files manageable. (I do keep all
my files together in one folder).

Thanks. I've tried making each of the sections a separate presentation but I
still have the same problem - the first slide of the subpresentation will
only automatically transition to the second slide the first time you click on
it. I've also tried to save the presentation in SHOW format but that doesn't
solve the problem either. Any other ideas?
