translating microsoft office to iMac 9.0.4

Help!

I have an iMac OS9.0.4 to which I would like to transfer a fair amount of
'word' documents as well as photographs that I have from my PC.
Any help on how to perform this translation would be appreciated.

WinWord97/00/02/03 files share the same format as MacWord98/01/v.X/04.
Just open them with MacWord.

Photographs can be transferred without translation, too, as long as you
have a graphics program that can read them - what format are they in?
