Translations in SSAS2005 and OWC

Johan Ryding

Hi

I am currently working on an application that uses OWC11 connected to a
SSAS2005 cube everything works fine but I dont get the translations correct.
Shouldnt OWC recognise the selected language in IE and use the correponding
translation (if it exists) or doesnt OWC11 support translations?

Thanks

you may want to add some more explanation. owc uses the client culture for
display, not what's been shot from the server or cube since it is a client
side object.

Thanks for your replay, I will try to explain better.

For instance, I have a dimension with a default name of "answer". I enter
two translations, one in Swedish and one in English (translations are entered
in the Visual Studio 2005 enviroment). If I in IE change my language setting
and sets english before swedish shouldn't I get the dimension name in english
or does OWC use the culture setting on the PC?

You should but then again Excel and by extension the OWC is notably poor in
handling localization. I recommend you change the culture at the database or
server end to see if it would help.
