Transparent chart pictures don't print correctly

I have created nice looking charts wherein the bar charts are
partially transparent (opacity setting is 50%). On the Mac (Office
2004), the result is fine on screen, but when I print, there is no
transparency. Seems like the printer doesn't recognize the opacity
setting to print exactly what I see on screen.

Hi Jeff,

Mine have been printing OK. What brand and model printer are you using?
Panther or Jaguar?

Hi Jim. I'm running Panther. I am also using a HP G85 printer. The
printer will print regular images at 50% opacity, but not when it's
within a graph. So I didn't try a different printer. Any help is
appreciated. This forum is great!

Hi Jeff,

If you use File > Print Preview does the 50% transparency look right? How
about if you print to a pdf file and open the file in Acrobat Reader?

On-screen and within print>preview, the transparency looks great.
I'll try printing to another printer tomorrow.

As Marv Albert would say: YES!! I just printed this chart w/opacity
at 50% on a graph object and it prints GREAT on a DIFFERENT printer.
It works on my Canon i950 but NOT on my HP G85. So it was the printer
after all. Thanks again for your help.
