Trash Icon

On a Mac PB G4 running OS X 10.4.10, like to modify the Finder so the
TRASH ICON can be located in the Finder Toolbar. Thanks in advance,
Rich

This has nothing to do with Microsoft products in general or Mac:Office in
particular. You'd be better off asking in the Apple Discussions since you're
query involves modifying the OS X GUI.

Perhaps it can be done programatically, but I tend to doubt it. You might
try just dragging the Trash icon to the Sidebar, but I don't know if that
will work or not - am not near a Mac to test.

Don't know about the Trash icon, but you can CTRL-click any Finder title
bar, choose Customize Toolbar, and drag the Delete tool to the bar.

No, that doesn't work, Bob. Nor does trying to drag the Trash icon from the
Dock to the top of Finder windows with the Command key down.

My thought is that if you need something more accessible than the Trash icon
on the dock you might as well forget icon placement altogether and use the
keyboard shortcut Command-Delete to move things into Trash and
Command-Shift-Delete to empty Trash.

While I don't use it, dragging the Delete icon from the Customize
Toolbar menu doesn't seem very difficult...

I use it all the time. In fact, I suspect the question came up, and on
this group, because in an earlier post I said "I put the trash icon on
the Finder toolbar." While we're going in circles here, might as well
add another one. :)

I customize the Finder Toolbar a LOT.

Indeed not. Just adding more grist to the mill, John... ;-)

Hey Clive -

Good to see you back in the mainstream! Hope you ahd a good trip.

Thanks for confirming - just a shot in the dark. Since I was blessed with
right-click capability I've never had reason to explore other options. That
plus the keystroke are the only choices I need:) Just from my personal
perspective the toolbar addition is more inconvenient than either of the
other two ways - I don't even see any advantage (for me) to have the Trash
Can in the Sidebar if it could be.
