Would like Outlook to offer an option to schedule travel time before and
after a meeting automatically.
Ideally, this would be two drop-down boxes with options in 15
minute-increments (up to...an hour? longer?): "Leave <BOX> before meeting";
"Return <BOX> after the meeting". The return box would automatically fill
in with the time selected in the leave box, but you can still choose a
different time. Then, Outlook would put semi-transparent blocks in the
calendar on either side of the appointment.
Why semi-transparent? I use color-coding for my appointments. Travel time
is not something I want cluttering up my schedule, but I do need to see it
when I'm scheduling appointments, or others are looking at my calendar to
schedule something. Also, maybe once the meeting is in the past, the blocks
disappear.
Yes, I can do this manually, but I don't want to spend the time. This would
be easier.
Also, maybe Outlook could have an advanced feature for scheduling longer
travel, so I can plug in departure and arrival times for planes, trains, even
car trips, but show out of office in between. That way, you could still
schedule other stuff during those trips (work on a project, a conference
call, a train meeting) without the confusion of overlapping appointments, but
people would still see that you're not available for on-site meetings. Maybe
it requires another "Show time as" option called "En route"?
