Trend Analysis

Hie Everyone,

Not too sure if this is the correct forum to ask the
following question but here goes:

I have some data basically it has the frequency that
something happened over three years broken down into
months. Basically I need to find out if the general trend
is downward. Have created frquency tables and a graph
inderted a linear trendline...but is there anything else
I can do, I don't think a linear funtion is the bst one.

Any advice anyone can give would be very useful!

Depends on the data - does it vary depending on the time of year fo
instance? If so, moving averages might be useful to smooth out an
variations before applying a linear regression.

Otherwise it might be worth looking around the web for help o
statistical analysis.
