Trial version activation

Hi.
Invested in some new hardware now that our son is entering college. Both the
new laptop and the new desktop come with Office 2003 Student and Teacher
edition, and we want to upgrade at least the laptop to permanent license. I
see on the Office site that the S & T license covers three installations, but
does that apply to upgrading a trial as well, or is that only retail
purchase?
If it does cover three installs, can we use the same product code to upgrade
the desktop?

If your trial version is the Student and Teachers Edition you can
upgrade your trial version and it should apply to the three licenses
since you will have a retail version after the upgrade. However the
recommended suggestion (which includes Microsoft) is to purchase a
retail version since you're likely to find it cheaper at your favorite
retail store.
