Trial version

I am using Office Student/Home trial version that came with the laptop I
recently purchased. When the trial is over I want to purchase cuz I love
OneNote, however, I have found the software online for $30 cheaper than ms
online. If I purchase, will I have to uninstall trial and what will happen
to my notebooks and stuff? Conversely, if I purchase from ms online will I
get discs? How does that work?

Wherever you purchase from be VERY CAREFUL that it's a legitimate license.
Some online vendors are, shall we say, "sub-reputable" and are going to sell
you a bogus or pirated license. That could be an issue when you go to
activate or if you seek support some day.

Assuming the license is legit then you'll be fine -- your notebooks and
documents will be unaffected and you'll be able to use them just as always.
