Tricking the Start & Finish Fields

Rob

I was wondering if it were possible to trick the Start & Finish fields to
equal the data that would be compiled from Three separate text/number
fields... Macro, Formula, anything?

I envision it this way...
Text1 = Day (i.e. Mon, Tue, Wed)
Text2 = Date (i.e. 1/23/2009)
Text3 = Time (i.e. 1:23 PM)

Then a macro collects that data and concatenate them to be "Mon 1/23/2009
1:23 PM" and then feeds that data into the Start Field so that it affects
the Gant Bars or Milestones or whatever. Then if and when a field changes
the macro updates automatically and everyone's happy.

Would that be a possibility?

Thanks In Advance,
Rob

Hi Rob,

I would sincerely doubt it as the start and finish fields are calculated by
Project. Perhaps if you explained why you want to "trick" the fields we
could offer another approach. You certainly can enter informaiton to a spare
date field (Start1, Finish1 etc) and have that display in the Gantt chart.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Rob,

If you want to have the start date show Mon 1/23/2009 1:23 PM" this can be
done by changing the date format in the Tools> Options> View tab.

If there is another reason as to why you want to do what you ask I would be
intrigued to know.

I hope this helps.
